But if you're planning to shoot wildlife with the MF in sx50, I've got bad news for you. The good news is that I'm fairly certain that you can control the manual focus.. I've done it plenty of time for static objects by switching to the manual focus mode and then using the command dial to change the focus.

It's a long and tiring process, you have to rotate the dial many times to get the focus from one end to the other but it's possible. I was actually considering getting the SX60 by selling the sx50, it's an even greater camera from what I've seen so far!
